Counseling at Bandelier
Hello Students, Parents, and Staff,
My goal as Bandelier’s School Counselor is to promote well-being of students, their families, and the community. I have a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling with an emphasis in School Counseling. I am delighted to be a part of Bandelier’s school community and look forward to working with and getting to know all of the wonderful students, parents, and staff who are working together in creating a positive and supportive school climate.
My intention in planning a comprehensive school counseling program is to contribute to students’ academic, personal/social, and career aims and objectives through providing counseling lessons, brief individual counseling, small group, and mediation lessons.
Counseling lessons are a proactive part of school counseling. Classroom counseling lessons will include learning about oneself and others through recognizing and understanding feelings and emotions, connecting and respecting through social interaction, considering and making good choices, defining conflict, problem solving, exploring diversity, handling anger, creating a positive environment, and increasing communication and active listening.
Small groups are offered as appropriate for student needs. Focus of groups may include connecting with peers to enhance social skills, self-regulation, and processing transitions and adjustments. I also check-in with students individually. Students are supported through communication, solution-focused problem solving, self-expression, peer peace table, artwork, interactive games, and considering amiable resolutions.
Any student and/or parent is welcome to come by the counseling room for a visit. Students, parents or guardians may request a referral to on-site, contracted, therapeutic counseling services or therapeutic, counseling services within the community.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
